Understanding the Participation Insights Tab on the AI Coaching Dashboard
Participation Insights Tab
This tab provides a high-level view of participation, activity trends, and AI-generated insights.
Applied Filters
At the top of the dashboard, you'll see the current time range being displayed. The default is "Last 90 days," but you can adjust this using the filter buttons.
To change the time range:
- Click one of the preset buttons (30d or 90d) in the upper-right corner
- Or click the calendar icon to select a custom date range
All metrics on the dashboard update based on the selected time period.
Submission Trends Over Time
This chart shows the total number of roleplay attempts submitted each week during the selected time period.
What it shows:
- Weekly submission volume across all learners
- Trends in practice activity over time
- Spikes or drops in engagement
How to read it:
- Hover over any data point to see the exact number of submissions for that week
- An upward trend indicates growing engagement with the coaching program
- A declining trend may signal that learners need reminders or additional motivation
- Irregular patterns might reflect seasonal factors, training cycles, or campaign launches
Why this matters: Use this chart to identify when your team is most active and when participation drops off. This helps you time coaching initiatives, send reminders, or launch new campaigns when engagement is highest.
Actively Participating Users vs Logged In Users
This dual-bar chart compares two types of user activity each week.
What it shows:
- Blue bars (Actively Participating Users): Users who submitted at least one roleplay attempt during that week
- Green bars (Logged In Users): Users who logged into the platform during that week, regardless of whether they submitted an attempt
How to read it:
- Compare the height of the blue and green bars to see the gap between logins and actual practice
- A large gap indicates that many users are logging in but not completing roleplays
- Similar bar heights suggest that most users who log in are also practicing
Why this matters: This metric helps you understand conversion from login to action. If many users log in but don't submit attempts, they may need clearer instructions, more time, or better motivation to complete their practice.

Tips and best practices
- Review the dashboard weekly to stay on top of participation trends and catch potential issues early
- Compare time periods by switching between 30-day and 90-day views to see both short-term and long-term trends
- Focus on improvement rates rather than absolute scores. A learner who starts at 40% and reaches 70% is making excellent progress
- Use the heatmap strategically to identify which groups need targeted support and which can serve as mentors for others
- Pay attention to soft skills as much as hard skills. Strong communication abilities are essential for sales success
- Monitor the gap between logged-in users and actively participating users. A large gap suggests barriers to completion
- Use AI-generated insights to uncover patterns you might not notice in the raw data alone
- Celebrate wins when you see strong upward trends in competency charts
- Act on Learning Path Recommendations to create structured development programs
Things to know
- Active Learners only includes users with at least one attempt during the selected time period. Users who haven't submitted anything won't appear in this count
- All text insights, recommendations, and analysis are auto-generated by SmartWinnr AI and update automatically as new data becomes available
- Training Hours Saved assumes a 30-minute traditional roleplay as the baseline comparison
- All metrics are based on the time filter you've selected, so changing the date range will update every section of the dashboard
- The heatmap groupings are customizable based on your organization's structure. The example shows geographic zones, but your organization might use teams, product lines, or other groupings
- Soft Skills Assessment scores are averages across all learners and all attempts during the selected time period
- Competency scores use a 0-100 scale across all charts and metrics
- Dashboard tabs show different views of the same underlying data, so insights across tabs should align and complement each other
