How to create Assignment in SmartPath?

Assignments help evaluate learner understanding by requiring them to complete specific tasks, submit responses, or upload supporting files as part of the SmartPath learning journey.


An Assignment is a segment that can be created within a SmartPath module, allowing learners to type responses to assignment questions or submit supporting files—such as PDFs or images—as part of their submission.


Since Assignment must be created within a SmartPath module, you need to either create a new module or select an existing module where the assignment will be added.

  1. While creating the Segments, Choose the segment type as Assignment from the available options. Then add a name to your Assignment.

  1. Upon creating the segment, you will be redirected to the following page, which allows trainers/editors to create your Assignment for the SmartPath module.

  1. Fill out the assignment details here

  • Title: Enter a clear and meaningful title for the assignment as it will appear to learners.
  • Description: Provide a brief description of the assignment (Optional)
  • Instruction’s Text: Enter detailed instructions explaining what learners are expected to complete or submit.
  • Score: Define the total points allocated for the assignment.
  • Answer Mandatory: Enable this option to make submission of an answer mandatory for completing the assignment. This option will allow the learner to type their response in the textbox provided in the Assignment segment.
  • Resource Mandatory: Enable this option to require learners to upload supporting documents or files. Leaners can upload a PDF or Image file as assignment submission.
  • Upload Files: Upload reference materials, templates, or resources that learners may need to complete the assignment.

Following is how the assignment instructions will be available to the learner in user view

  1. Click Save to create the assignment and add it to the SmartPath module.

How the Editor can review the assignment submission and give the scoring?

Once the leaner submit the assignment, editor needs to go in an review the submission for the completion status and score to get updated for the SmartPath.
